Our History
Founded by Ssitenda Rashid ,mbazira joseph,Nanyonga Betty and pastor weere Jackson, Cymon Childcare Ministry was birthed through God’s Power Church International Ministry a thriving, community-focused church planted in Kibuku District in Eastern Uganda, in 2014.
The Cymon Story.
Back in 2003 , in a town called Kibuku in eastern Uganda where one of the founders was born and raised , Ssitenda Rashid was confronted by a stark reality that he could not ignore. As a young child growing in kibuku, he and his siblings were raised up in an area best known for its violence and poverty. The grim reality was that over 70% of school going children risked dropping out of school.Coupled with a high mortality rate, the situation was indeed dire.
The residents of Kibuku have endured so much. Corrupt and oppressive rulers have waged ruthless wars against the people and, when they were done with their slaughter, nearly one hundred thousand were dead.
The war in eastern Uganda in the late eighties up to Mid- Nineties left behind a trail of death, poverty disease and sickness. It was not only the war that wreaked havoc, the Aids scourge severely aggravated the issue. Sssitenda vividly remembers an incident, when his family went to visit an 80-year-old widow who had mothered seven children. As they walked through the banana groves behind her small hut, she pointed out the graves of her husband and six of her children. AIDS had killed them all. Her one surviving child, a daughter, was dying of the same disease. Visiting this woman stirred Ssitenda to the core of his being and became one of the defining moments of his life.
He was reminded of James 1: 27, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
Cymon childcare ministry was birthed out of God’s power church international ministry as a result of this encounter.

Our Work
The Cymon Model is designed to provide vulnerable women and children in Africa with holistic care and to impact communities in the process. The model involves physical care, medical intervention including HIV/AIDS treatment, education - formal and vocational, counseling and emotional well-being as well as moral and spiritual discipleship.
Cymon childcare ministries is an all-inclusive, non-partisan organization registered as a CBO (Community Based Organization) which helps the livelihoods of people in the Kibuku District and other parts of Uganda. Cymon is very passionate about children.
Kibuku district is characterized by widely dry area and while majority of people in Uganda (over 60%) rely on agriculture, the climate in Kibuku districtis not favorable. There are many families that are orphaned and some with insufficient funds to foster proper education in the area, which lead to formation of the CymonModel designed to provide vulnerable children in Africa with holistic care and to impact communities in the process. The main objective of Cymon is to promote education among disadvantaged homes particularly orphaned children with the view of paying school fees for primary education first, then secondary education and in future establish a technical institution to equip youth in the area with more practical skills that could make the disadvantaged in the area self-reliant.
Cymon childcare ministry has a technical group, which has proposed a three prong approach of primary education, secondary education and tertiary education to be handled at once so that they reduce dependency of youth in the area. Currently Cymon is partnering with schools and institutions with in kibuku district to bring hope to marginalized communities in the district. Success is already being registered with many children who in the past would have had no chance of education being extended this opportunity. This approach though has been met with the resounding challenge of availability of financial resources. Whereas land could be obtained to establish an institution or school, the money to train, hire and purchase equipment necessary remains elusive.
Both the cymon and the African experience are demonstrated most effectively when you become immersed in them. Since cymon first started, numerous individuals and organizations in Uganda and around the world have visited Kibuku district to provide, financial, scholastic and other help for the vulnerable children under cymon childcare ministry.
